I bought this book on a whim without knowing anything about the long running Chief Inspector Littlejohn series. Otherwise I probably wouldn´t have picked this book up, being book 35 in the series. But I´m glad that I bought it, because I really enjoyed reading this mystery.
Admittedly, it´s not the most intricate and clever plot ever written and there haven´t been a lot of suspects to choose from, but I was genuinely entertained by this book. I really enjoyed reading about these flawed characters and how chief inspector talked over and over again with the same people to find out the truth. And every single one of these characters were interesting and well-drawn.
If you are searching for a mystery with some great and interesting characters, I would definitely recommend The Body in the Dumb River.
